Perfect Baked Brie

Perfect Baked Brie

Outdo yourself at your next party with this cheesy, sweet jam infused pastry. The focal point of this week's recipe is Dr. Pickle's Sweet Pepper Jam.

Ingredients:

  • 1 piece of brie, 4oz, cold
  • 1 sheet puff pastry, thawed
  • 2 tablespoons Dr. Pickle Sweet Pepper Jam
  • 1 egg beaten with 1 tablespoon water
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar

Step 1

Heat the oven to 400 degrees. Carefully, use a sharp chef's knife to cut the white rind off the brie and discard the rind.

Step 2

Roll the chilled dough to about 1/8th-inch thick. Transfer the rolled dough to a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Place the brie at the center of the dough square and then liberally spread Sweet Pepper Jam over the top of the cheese. Fold the edges of dough over the cheese to enclose it. There should be just enough to cover the brie, but be sure to trim the edges should the dough drape over too far.

Step 3

Brush the egg wash over the brie, making sure it does not pool where it meets the tray or it will stick. Sprinkle with the sugar. Bake in the center of the oven for 35 to 45 minutes. When it's done, the pastry should will be golden brown and completely cooked through. Let cool for about 10 minutes and serve warm.
